Chinese-Finnish cooperation kicks off research into medical AI



Research into uses for artificial intelligence and machine learning in the healthcare sector is about to commence.


The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on establishing a Sino-Finnish Medical AI Research Centre in Chengdu, China, took place on the 16th of January. The MOU signing ceremony was held at the Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital and guests included the safety inspector of Sichuan Provincial Health Planning Commission, deputy inspector of Sichuan Province Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and the deputy inspector of Sichuan Science and Technology Department, as well as the Finnish ambassador in China.


The medical research centre is built together by the Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital, Eksote Hospital from Finland, and Avaintec. Thereby, research centre will be implemented in close cooperation between China and Finland.


The centre will research and develop artificial intelligence and machine learning technology; such exploration is expected to improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Ultimately, the goal is to implement comprehensive and cross-platform solutions in the medical and healthcare sector.
