10 years of Avain Technologies

Avain Technologies this year celebrates its 10-year milestone on the journey to be a leading domestic software provider
Founded in 1997, the company started under the name of SignForm and specialized in developing XML-based form- and digital signature solutions. From the very beginning one of the company´s main ideas was to provide software products based on international open standards and to participate in the standards´ development process by taking part in the activity of Finland´s HL7- association.
In 2002 the name SignForm was changed to Avain Technologies and three main products were introduced to the market: X-Digital Signature Suite – a solution for digital signing, X-Web Form Manager – a electronic form solution and X-Archive – an long-term archival solution. Common for these products was not only the product development funding granted by SITRA (Finnish Innovation Fund), but also their XML-based technical structure and the idea of easy integration into customers existing systems and databases.
Due to growing investments, Avain Technologies was able to focus more thoroughly on the conceptual dimensions of programming as such and pay more attention to the company´s programming principles and prevailing working culture.
Avain Technologies´ current product development and customer service processes are based on an agile development model created in cooperation with Helsinki University of Technology. The model uses Extreme Programming (XP) principles, while the product development process is directed by scrum-based process management methods adapted to the company's work culture.
Although renewal is regarded high in today´s software business, Avain Technologies is able to proudly present employees, who have received their keys to success in the very year the company was founded. The employees´ middle age has all this time been kept under 30 years, which is one factor to keep the company dynamic and sensitive to market changes.
All of us, the experienced developers, hungry young professionals as well as the company´s management salute our ten years history and want to thank all key persons, customers and partners for the past years. We also would wish to thank all, who remembered us on our 10th anniversary.
